Father-Son Duo Moves Simon Cowell to Tears on Britain’s Got Talent with Touching Tribute Song

In one of the most emotional moments in Britain’s Got Talent history, a father and son duo left judges and viewers alike in tears with a heartfelt original song that earned Simon Cowell’s coveted golden buzzer.

Tim Goodacre, 43, and his 12-year-old son Jack took to the stage during the auditions with a quiet confidence and a deeply personal song titled The Lucky Ones. Performed with acoustic guitars and genuine emotion, the pair’s performance was a moving tribute to family and the people they’ve lost.

“We wrote this song together,” said Tim. “It’s a father and son song about being grateful for what you have, even in the face of loss.” Jack added simply, “It’s about how lucky we are to have each other.”

The song struck a deeply personal chord with Cowell, who was visibly emotional throughout the performance. The song holds a special significance for the Goodacres. Tim revealed that The Lucky Ones was written as a tribute to his late mother Angela and his grandfather Jack, both of whom passed away in the same week in 2015. “It’s nice to think they’re looking down,” he said. “This song is about taking stock and being thankful every day.”

Tim, a stay-at-home dad who has spent years singing in pubs and clubs, and Jack, who previously performed in the West End’s School of Rock and reached the semi-finals of The Voice Kids, shared a magical moment that resonated far beyond the stage.

As the confetti fell and applause erupted, it was clear that The Lucky Ones had done more than just impress the judges—it had touched the hearts of millions.
